Welcome to our Co-op!

We acknowledge that Community Alternatives Cooperative is situated on the traditional, uncestral, and unceded territories of hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking Coast Salish people, including xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Community Alternatives Coop currently houses 38 people of all ages and backgrounds. In addition to 9 shared apartments (aka “pods”), the Coop features a beautiful rooftop deck, community garden, library, meeting room (with ping-pong table), workshop, and large bike storage cages. Kitsilano beach and major bus routes are nearby.

Participation in the smooth running of the Coop includes having a regular community chore, being on a committee, attending a monthly "Business meeting", and taking part in work parties (followed by a delicious lunch).

“Podmates” themselves determine the best fit for their pod.  Podmates looking to fill a vacancy will review the applications received on the website and contact people they resonate with to arrange interviews.

If this interests you or anyone you know, please fill out the online application at www.communityalternativescoop.org to tell us about yourself and why Coop living is attractive to you.
